On Groupon day, we scored 150 hits on a local review site. The day after was 42.  The average number of hits per day for us is 8-15.  I think this is another 'value": the exposure sent people to our website and to other places.  Overall, it fit into our branding and marketing efforts very well.
I believe Groupon is definitely better than other forms of advertising because you can actually see a return on it. This was huge for us. Our Groupon sales were 27% of our total sales this past month.
We're very happy with the preliminary results from Groupon, which have not only shown larger than average orders ... but introduced us to verifiably new customers who don't typically visit our stores.

Groupon, which offers daily deals on food and entertainment in major cities, today launched Personalized Deals, a service that tailors each subscriber’s stream of daily deals to their personal preferences and buying history.

Personalized Deals are available in Chicago, San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles, New York and Seattle, and are slated to launch across Groupon’s more than 80 North American markets over the next few months.
